Change it into that it leaves a trail of goo behind itself.

I don't know if James will be able to program the goo trail...
Tasty Planet is so great. How did only a two-person company make such a great game!?

I'm just suggesting, but if he can do it, it will be better.

I'm not saying I don't want a goo trail. However, I wouldn't hope for one too much, unless James uses a different animation editor. (If he did, it would probably be on the DG blog.)

We might do some experiments on a goo trail. But you are correct - with the current animation system it would be difficult to make something look cool.

Remember that while it's called goo, it is made out of metal robots. I don't think it would have a trail.

Then why it doesn't function like a robot?

Objective 1: Eat things

Objective 2: Avoid danger

I'm sure that could be programmed. There are self replicating robots in the real world. Also, pretty much any robot can avoid walls, so a few changes and you have a basic grey goo. Sure, right now each robot would be 50 cm or more tall, and any animal could avoid it, but it's a start.

But no robot in the whole can eat anything smaller than itself to grow.

It's not eating them. It's deconstructing the matter they are made out of and changing it to the same kind the robots are made of.

Also, Tasty Planet is a more appealing name than Deconstructing Planet...

I think we have overanalyzed this.
